Interview With Interview with Dr. Campbell
“A Defining Moment: How my medical doctors made me what I am today.”
As a child, I had kidney problems that forced me to constantly be on antibiotics. Despite the fact that I had decent nutrition and was very active, it seemed that I was always getting sick. Later, I suffered through unbearable PMS. After much suffering, I have since learned how the overuse of antibiotics had caused havoc on my entire immune and intestinal system. Yes, medicine did save my life. For that, I am forever grateful. My childhood experiences prove that there is a time and a place for drugs and surgery. However, proper follow-up care and daily-living decisions are also crucial. Innocent mistakes can make people extremely sick.
As a college student, I suffered with on-going neck and back stiffness. I thought that these were normal aches and pains – part of being a busy student and abusing my body with lack of sleep, aggressive work-outs, various sports as well as teaching dance and aerobics. A defining moment in my life occurred just after completing my under-graduate degree. I was involved in a car accident that only exacerbated my already aching neck and back. The pain became constant and unbearable. It was my new medical doctor that insisted that I go to see her chiropractor! Having studied biochemistry and working in research, I was a firm believer in “science and hard-core facts”. In other words, I thought that chiropractors were “quacks”.
From the outside, I appeared to be an otherwise active, healthy and fit twenty-something. In fact, I was probably in the best physical shape of my life. On the inside, I felt like I was in constant turmoil and agony. By now, I had stiff and achy joints, PMS, IBS, allergies, anxiety and insomnia. I had no clue that any of this could be helped. After having tried everything else, I knew that there had to be a better way. After much research, of course, I decided to give the chiropractor a call. (Although she was very patient with me, she eventually admitted that I was her most annoying patient ever J. We hit it off!)
Before consulting with her, I considered myself to be a relatively healthy person. I took vitamins, followed a respectable diet, and was an exercise-enthusiast. After seeing how my chiropractor re-educated me in all of these areas and taught me about “subluxations”, I was hooked! The rest, shall we say, is history. I have never felt better!
After completing chiropractic school, I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my professional life to sharing the positive experiences of chiropractic with others in need.
I am proud to say that I am a holistic Doctor of Chiropractic, specializing in neurology and nutrition to evaluate and treat the imbalances of my patients.
I assess and treat the body using the Triad of Health:
-
Structural: energy flow
-
Chemical: nutritional
-
Mental: emotional
Each of these interconnects and works synergistically within the whole person.
My role is to support each individual’s inner healing capabilities. I believe that the innate intelligence of the body can be accessed through chiropractic neurological techniques, allowing the body to heal itself.
I also believe that lifestyle management plays a key role in maintaining an individual’s well being. The keys to this are quite simple: Eat a natural, nutritionally balanced diet, exercise, get enough rest, manage your stress levels and take responsibility for your health.
The most important “food for thought” that I’d like to leave you with is this: If you practice good “dental hygiene”, why not practice good “spinal hygiene”? Unlike your teeth, you only get one spine and spinal cord. Unlike your teeth, these cannot easily be replaced. Why not protect your most important asset?
Remember, your spine is the window to your health. It’s not just how you feel; it’s how you function too.
As a mom, wife, and busy professional that wants only the best healthcare for myself and my family (so that I will have the energy needed to keep up with the demands of my active lifestyle), you can rest assured that I stay current on the latest, safest, and most effective natural health care solutions. It gives me great pleasure to be able to share all of this expertise with you and your family.
Respectfully yours,
Dr. Christa E. Campbell
