FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE THERAPY
Functional Medicine is a science based approach to health care that involves looking at each patient as a whole being with interconnected systems that function best when they are all in balance. The goal of Functional Medicine is to prevent and treat complex chronic disease, as well as, promote optimal health and well being in those that are not ill. Patient assessment is comprehensive and focuses on the biochemical and psychosocial uniqueness of each individual.
Studies suggest that 70 to 90% of all chronic disease is a direct result of lifestyle choices. This means that even small changes in eating and sleeping habits, physical activity and how you manage stress can dramatically influence whether disease, or the symptoms leading to disease, will develop. Incorporating positive lifestyle changes may even allow some patients to reduce or eliminate the use of prescription drugs.
Lifestyle change is now recommended for treating many chronic diseases including: elevated cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, and osteoporosis. These illnesses, along with symptoms such as chronic pain, fatigue, stress and hormone imbalance can be effectively managed using some basic lifestyle changes along with specific neutraceuticals and other supplements.
DETOXIFICATION & WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAMS
The 100 trillion cells in your body absorb pollutants everyday. Pesticides, food additives, and toxins from stress can make you sick but detoxification can reverse the cycle. Is it right for you? Ask Dr. Campbell which program may be appropriate for you.
Moreover, chiropractic treatments work best in an environment of optimum nutrition and reduced stress. That’s why Dr. Campbell provides special nutritional and weight-loss counseling. She can recommend various programs and natural supplements to aid in your weight-loss goals.
Dr. Campbell advocates positive lifestyle changes for all her patients and educates them on proper diet, exercise, and living a healthier lifestyle which leads to an improved quality of life.
NEUROMUSCULAR REHABILITATION
As a patient of Dr. Campbell’s, you can expect to receive some suggestions during your chiropractic appointment to help you manage your pain and maintain your health at home. This usually includes basic stretches and an exercise program that are designed to maximize the benefits of your chiropractic treatment.
Dr. Campbell may also employ physical therapy modalities such as electrical stimulation, mechanical traction, ultrasound and other pain management tools including the application of heat or ice.
CUSTOM ORTHOTICS
Custom-cast orthotics (inserts, shoes and sandals) can be constructed specifically to correct your foot mechanics. Orthotics can relieve arch and heel pain while properly aligning your body from the feet up.
How do you make the orthotics?
Dr. Campbell uses a foam cast to diagnose foot problems. The orthotics are then produced by Foot Levelers, Inc.
Why should I wear orthotics?
People should wear orthotics for various reasons including: flat feet / fallen arches, heel spurs, plantar fascitis, pronation (over rotation of the foot inwards) and supination (walking on the outside of the foot).
Typically, we find that patients who wear orthotics hold their chiropractic adjustments longer.
Will orthotics help my lower back pain?
Yes, orthotics may help. If your arches have dropped, or the biomechanics of your feet are altered, it can cause a change in how you walk and put pressure on your ankles, knees and hips resulting in lower back pain. This is why they are also called “Pelvic Spinal Stabilizers”.
Why are orthotics so expensive?
Orthotics are custom made for your feet and any problems you have. The castings are analyzed by a computer technician and made accordingly. The materials used are strong and durable; therefore, your orthotics can last for up to 4 years before they need to be replaced.
How long will a pair last?
It depends on how often you wear your orthotics. They should be worn everyday. However, if you have multiple pairs, they can last anywhere from 2-5 years.
Will Insurance cover orthotics?
It depends on your plan. Each insurance company's terms are different. Although most companies do not cover orthotics, call your company to verify this before ordering.
